Motherhood 101

Whoa! This is hard work! This motherhood thing makes a busy day in the ER look like a walk in the park! If you know me at all, you know that I am a little bit of a control freak. I like for things to work on a schedule, and to know what is coming next. Well, if you have ever had a newborn, you know it doesn't really work that way. You also know that I am a worrier. I mean, to a total fault. Thanks to my daddy for that trait, along with the high blood pressure that goes along with it. Well, anyways, this little thing takes worrying to a WHOLE new level.

Adelyn's First Bath

Is she eating enough, is she eating too much? Is she sleeping enough, is she sleeping too much? Is she still breathing? Why is she crying? Is she peeing enough? Is she pooping enough? Is she pooping too much? It is overwhelming I tell you. I asked my mama the other night how old she has to get before I stop worrying about her. Her answer... "I will let you know". Ugh!
Anyways, we are getting adjusted. Learning the ins and outs. I will be glad when I can take her out. I have been cooped up in this house long enough. Mama is going to keep her for a couple of hours tonight so I can go out to dinner with my husband and sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Excited about that!
She is a super sweet baby! She sleeps well at night. She is happy most of the time. Unless she is hungry, tired or having her clothes changed. :) Here are some more pictures of her...for you who want to see her cuteness!

Adelyn Jules Norman

SHE IS HERE!!! Sorry it has taken me so long to update this blog, but I am sure anyone who reads this is on facebook, so I know yall have seen her! Isn't she beautiful?? She weighed in at 7lbs even, 21.5 inches long! She is a sweet, sweet girl!
We are still at the hospital. She has had some minor issues with her heart rate, body temp, and being a little sluggish. They did some lab work yesterday and the consensus is that her thyroid wasn't working just like it should and it took it a couple of days to jump start. As most of you know, I have had thyroid issues and they think that my levels were out of whack during pregnancy and it caused hers to act a little funny when it was left on its own. :) She is soooooo much better now. Wide eyed, eating great and heart rate is picking up. I pray we get to go home today. Ed is about to go stir crazy and I miss my bed. I am ready for Adelyn to see her home and get settled in.
Shelby is super excited. I think she is going to be a great big sister. She has had a nasty cough and ran some fever over the past weekend, so I have been a little guarded with letting her get in Adelyn's face too much, but I think as soon as I give her the go ahead, its going to be on.
I will leave yall with some more pictures of the most precious baby ever born.....

Update from the Hospital

I am here. In Labor and Delivery. We checked in last night about 6 pm. It has been a long restless night. Constantly something beeping, someone coming in, having to pee from all this fluid they are giving me. It was a LONG night. Have been having some regular contractions, but nothing too painful. I imagine this is only the beginning. They are supposed to start the pitocin at 6 am...its 5:55 am now. So anytime now. Rene' will be keeping facebook updated throughout the day today, so watch for that. I will be back with pics of our baby girl as soon as possible! Prayers are appreciated today!

No Progress! :(

Well, I went to the doctor today. No progress. Exactly the same as last week. I did lose a pound, which was the only good news at the doctor. One less pound I have to lose after Monday. :) My blood pressure was higher than they wanted it to be, so no more work for me. :( I was supposed to work tomorrow and Thursday. I feel like I left them high and dry, which I absolutely HATE! It is weird to think that I won't go back there for almost 7 weeks. I will miss those people...most of them anyway. ;)
So, I am convinced that Adelyn is in there for the long haul. She ain't coming out til they make her...the pitocin that is. :) She must be nice and cozy in there...which I suppose is a good thing. I am trying not to be impatient, and to enjoy my last few days of rest and freedom, but 2 people that were due around the same time as me had babies yesterday and today (Congrats Savannah and Mandy) and that makes me ready for my turn! :)
Oh well, wait is all we can do! And ride through plowed fields, eat spicy food, jumping jacks, etc, etc. However I am not yet desperate enough for Castor Oil...and don't ever think I will be.

Auburn Fan Live Oak Fan

If you know me, you know I am not a fan of Auburn. Never have been. Especially this year. I think Cam Newton is a lying, cheating, crook. I think he should not have been allowed to play. But as much as he disgusts me, This disgusts me even more!

If you know me or my husband very well, you know of our LOVE of Live Oak Trees. We just had some 30 foot ones transplanted into our yard, and my husband babies them like his children. If you ride in the truck with us for any amount of time, you will surely hear one of us point out a beautiful Live Oak and say, "Ours will look like that....when we are DEAD!" So, the thought of anyone INTENTIONALLY killing 130 year old trees makes me sick. Very very sad! Its football people....give me a break!

My Valentine

*I started this post on Valentines Day, but since my internet crashed and I just got it fixed...it is a little late*

I haven't talked much about my husband on this blog, so I will do so today, since its Valentines day and all!
On our wedding day, September 29, 2007

I met Ed in May of 2003 when I started working at MRS Homecare while in school at VSU. Of course, with this being Moultrie, I knew OF him my whole life. My mom works with his sister, he went to school with my sister, etc. But, we officially met in 2003. We worked together for a while before we started dating. It took us a while for us to figure out that we were meant to be together, him a little longer than me! ;) We officially started dating in September of 2004. We got engaged in December of 2006 and married in September of 2007. I could go on and on about all the things I love about him, but here are a few.

1. He is such a great father! To Shelby and I know he will be to Adelyn when she gets here!

2. He makes me laugh...all the time! He is a super funny guy, although not all people see the silly side of him. He sings silly songs, all the time. Ones he makes up, usually about hunting. Especially in the morning time, which I don't always love when I am sleeping, but it is pretty endearing!

3. He is passionate! About a lot of things...but especially hunting! Now, most wives would not list this as something that they love about their husband. But really, I do. I love how much he loves it! I love that he is so dedicated to it! Ed and I have a very relaxed relationship. We do not over-regulate each other! He does his thing, I do mine. I love that! I mean, don't get me wrong, we love to spend time together, but we like our seperate time too! It works for us! Good thing...cause this boy LOVES to hunt!

4. I may be baised on this one, but I think he is one of the most handsome men EVER! He has these green eyes that just blow me away. I have said many times, I really hope Adelyn looks like me...but gets her Daddy's green eyes!

5. He is a family man! I love that he loves his family so much. He has always been close with both of his parents, works with his mother, talks to his sister, Laura, almost daily. He loves his nieces and nephews. He loves my family like they are his own! When his Dad got sick, he was so great to him. Picked up all of his responsibilities and held this farm together like a pro, all while still working his full time job and taking care of us as well. I am so proud to call him my husband!

So, thats my Valentine! Wonderful man that he is! Thank you darling, for being you, and for being mine! I love you!
